Bio
I am a graduate of Oakland University and have worked in the criminal justice field for thirty -four years, as a caseworker, working with adults with co-occurring disorders of substance abuse and mental health. I have facilitated grant-funded cognitive behavioral process groups. In my field, I also work individually with adults in acute crises resulting from their involvement with the criminal justice system. I am a certified addictions counselor through the State of Michigan. My theoretical foundation is multicultural theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing all while utilizing a Person-Centered approach.
“Each person comes from a unique multicultural background and is an expert in their own life. My counseling approach is to assist the client to explore different options through integrative elements of cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy to act in ways consistent with personal values and life choices. I enjoy working with people to find a sense of inner well-being resulting from their own definitions and at their decided pace.”
